Welcome to Sikyona!
Sikiona was an ancient Greek city built in the area of Western Corinth. The city was conquered by Dorians from Argos in the middle of the 11th century and then became one of the three Doric states in the area of Corinth, Sicily.
According to tradition, its first inhabitants were indigenous Pelasgians and, according to Pausanias, its first king was Aigialas, by whom Aigaleia was named after all the region that was later named Achaia. The Pelasgians were driven out by the Aeolians and in turn by the Ionians, Ion’s son Xuthos, who remained in the area until the Dorians invasion.
