Welcome to South Pelion!

The mountain of Argonauts, Centaurs, Jason and Achilles, where the battle of the Titans took place, with its enchanting forests and beautiful beaches is a unique place to visit.
At an altitude of 1,614 meters, Pelion dominates next to the city of Volos, extending from northwest to southeast with an approximate length of 44 km and a width ranging from 10 km in the south to 25 km in the north.
It is one of the most famous mountains in Greece both for its history and for its natural beauty, which makes it one of the most beautiful places in our country, but also in Europe. In mythology, Pelion has a prominent place, especially in the history of the Giants, who lived here and wanted to raise Pelion and place it on Kisavos to make their own home higher than the gods. of Olympus. In ancient times Pelion was the theater of many myths and glories. Here were the Centaurs, mythical beings with half a human body and half a horse. According to tradition, at its highest peak, Pliassidi, Centaur Chiron lived alone and was fed exclusively by lion flesh.
But apart from the fascinating stories that our mythology has left about this mountain, there is a reality that only reaches Pelion to remain historical. It stood as a spiritual center for the enslaved Greeks throughout the dark Turkish occupation and became a source of enlightenment and preservation of the Greek spirit. Famous Greek schools were operating here. At the school of Zagora, Rigas Velestinlis learned his first letters, who later became a teacher at Kissos’ school. Pelion also lived and taught by the great teacher of the nation, Anthimos Gazis. And in the fight against the Turks Pelion took the lead.
Today, Pelion, with its beautiful villages (Portaria, Makrinitsa, Zagora, Tsagarada, Milies etc.), perched on the slopes of the mountain, are one of the most touristy centers of Greece and one of the best summer locations. Its magnificent climate and its amazing vegetation as well as the famous combination of mountain and sea contribute to this.
