THE ROUTE FOR MARINA ITEA OPPORTUNITY OPENED.
The way has been opened for the exploitation of the Itea Marina through the granting of the right to use, operate, manage and exploit it by the HRADF. The announcement of the terms of the bidding process comes just days after a meeting between Tourism Minister Haris Theocharis and HRADF executives.
At that meeting, the Minister of Tourism and HRADF officials finalized the final details of the launch of the Itea Marina concession process for a period of at least 35 years while discussing in depth the possibilities available for the exploitation of other marinas in Rhodes, Kefalonia, Zakynthos etc.
The Itea maritime zone, which can serve as a station for vessels crossing the Aegean to the Ionian Sea via the Corinth Canal, occupies an area of 26,000 square meters and has the ability to berth 146 small and medium-sized vessels. It is also foreseen 60 vessels in the land area covering an area of 24,700 sq.m.
The completion of the bidding process for the Itea Marina is expected to be a guide to the exploitation of other marina in the country for the benefit of the national economy and its tourism product. This is high on the agenda of the Greek Government, as shown by the Prime Minister’s program statements.
